Englewood Beach Florida Real Estate

If you have been dreaming of beachfront living at its finest, then look no further than Englewood Beach. This is a prime location for beach lovers, boating enthusiasts and sports fisherman and is situated in “the gem of the Suncoast.” Englewood Beach is located on the southernmost tip of Manasota Key and looks out over the sparkling blue waters of Lemon Bay. Englewood Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area, favored amongst tourists and locals alike.

Englewood Beach is technically part of Chadwick Park, and is accessible via State Road 776. Englewood Beach and the surrounding areas on Manasota Key are a beach lovers’ paradise and offers both lively cultural hot spots and secluded stretches of white sandy beaches. Chadwick Park offers anything you could possibly imagine for fun in the sun at Englewood Beach, from boat, Jet Ski and scooter rentals to fishing, swimming, shelling, diving, picnicking and more. The park itself offers basketball and volleyball courts, a playground, pavilions for rent, restrooms and more. There is also a boardwalk lining the length of the beach, and is the perfect location for watching the sun dip into Lemon Bay.

Aside from a wide variety of activities, Englewood Beach also offers fine dining and shopping, including a number of beachfront stores and tiki bars. Residents in Englewood Beach enjoy a relatively quiet beachfront living, despite the variety of activities and action that happens on the beach. There is literally no “night life” on the actual beach itself, which means that residents can enjoy quiet sunsets an evenings on the beach without the hassle of outside noise. With literally no stop lights or high rises, going to Englewood Beach is almost like stepping back in time and experiencing “old Florida” as it used to be.

Local newspapers have said that being at Englewood Beach is like looking at retro Florida and the way things used to be in the 1950’s and 1960’s. There are no high rise buildings or commercial restaurants or hotel chains; only mom and pop operations that have been around for decades. Englewood Beach has also been said to have a “down home” feel that you won’t get from ritzier nearby beach communities. Since it is so small, you’ll get to know your neighbors and enjoy this unique community with them.

One of the most popular activities among Englewood Beach resident is boating and fishing. Just outside of Lemon Bay are the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, teeming with dozens of varieties of sport fish. From grouper and red snapper to snook and of course, tarpon, these waters are notorious for their great fishing and attract anglers and fisherman from all over the world. Englewood Beach is so fisherman friendly that many of the gas stations even carry bait in their stores.

Englewood Beach is also an area abundant in wildlife and tropical plants. Most of the homes in the area are beautifully landscaped with lush tropical foliage and native plants. Bird watching is also a common pastime in Englewood Beach, and a variety of birds can be seen on daily basis from pelicans and herons to seagulls, egrets and even osprey. Dolphins and manatees also make their home in the surrounded waters off of Englewood Beaches sandy shores. Every year there is also a Turtle Watch on Englewood Beach where you can watch sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand. If you watch closely at sunset, you may catch a dolphin playing in the surf at sunset.

To the direct south of this unique beach town is Stump Pass State Park, a 250 acre piece of land that stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to Lemon Bay. Nature trails run through this wooded area where you will find native plants, estuaries, picnic tables and if you’re lucky, ancient shark teeth on the shore. After a storm, the shoreline on Englewood Beach is usually littered with million year old shark teeth, some measuring up to three inches long. Englewood Beach is also a great location for “treasure hunters” and master shellers. A variety of rare and common shells wash up on Englewood Beach’s shores like coquina, augers, whelks and scallops. Many of these shells arrive on the beach intact and in perfect condition, some with the animals inside still very much alive, and some that have been abandoned and ready for your collection.

One of Englewood Beach’s biggest attractions happens every Labor Day weekend, when Englewood residents commemorate the pioneers who founded the area in 1896. There are golf and fishing tournaments as well as boat races and a parade. Seafood festivals, Fourth of July fireworks and art shows also come through the area every year, giving this community a variety of fun activities for the whole family.

Outdoor activities are always abundant in Englewood Beach and can be enjoyed practically whenever you wish. With clean air and near perfect weather year round, you can enjoy biking, gardening, golf, tennis, jogging and walking your pet virtually whenever you want. Winters are typically 60 degrees or warmer and in the summer cool breezes from the gulf keep temps around 80 to 90 degrees.

There is a wide variety of real estate available on Englewood Beach. While the majority of homes on the beach are townhouses and condominiums, from time to time a charming bungalow or single-family home will come on the market. Whether you are looking for a winter home, second home, retirement home or investment home, Englewood Beach may be just the place for you! Because this is a fairly popular tourist area, Englewood Beach is an ideal location for your next investment property, and their beachfront condominiums make for excellent rental vacation properties.
